The law of nature is: Do the thing, and you shall have the power; but they who do not the thing have not the power.
Every excess causes a defect; every defect an excess. Every sweet hath its sour; every evil its good.
For everything you have missed, you have gained something else; and for everything you gain, you lose something else.
The dice of God are always loaded. The world looks like a multiplication-table, or a mathematical equation, which, turn it how you will, balances itself.
